Intertextuality

We decided to use this location in our trailer for "Utopia" as it is a location that is used in another successful British social realism "This is England" by the director Shane Meadows who is from Nottingham. We believe by using intertextuality we believe that the image of "This is England" can be cast over our production.

The Green Screen

At our college we have been given the opportunity to use a green screen in our trailer. So we have decided to take this opportunity and use the green screen. We have had the idea to do a news broadcast with the news reporter saying that bullying is at a all time with 2 in 3 children saying that they have been bullied at some point in the childhood either it being psychical, cyber or just being called names or just made fun of by other people. This fits in well with our film as one of the characters is being cyber bullied and will make the audiences  more aware to this problem and enforces the underlining message that bullying is a huge problem and can ruin lives.

Trailer Analysis of Attack The Block

Plan for Filming

After this mix up of filming the last time we went out and film we decided to create a psychical plan on paper that we could follow in order to be more efficient when filming our scenes and shots, it also gave us more of the whole picture when it came to what our trailer will be like when finished.

Re-Filming

The second day of filming we decided that, the kitchen scene did not look as good as we first thought because of the lighting in my kitchen was making  the camera in the fridge not focus on me as i went to get milk out of the fridge. As we had been to Owen's house the day before we decided that his kitchen would be much better to film this scene as there would not be any interference from the lighting or any other external elements.

First Day of Filming

The first day of filming we started by getting some location shots of Charles house (below), we also started with a scene in the kitchen of Charles' house where we see him seeing a note on the fridge saying "Gone on Holiday back soon", he then opens the fridge to get some milk for his morning bowl cereal.

This is a picture of our main character "Jordan" with his dog. We have decided that he should be wearing different clothes that are more fiting of his character profile.

Synergy within a Film

A film will have many ways to convey similar information, such as information on the film, trailers, posters,a website and magazine and newspaper columns. This synergy promotes and advertises the film to the audience making it more available and then would wided the target audience. ill Manors is a good example of synergy (This is from searching "ill Manors" into google)

ill Manors has an official website- which promotes the film and has more information on the film and on Ben Drew (Plan B) on why he made the film.

Selling our film

Distribution:

Changes in film distribution technology now provides filmmakers with access to major online marketplaces such as Amazon and ITunes. While video on demand represents a easy way for independent filmmakers to enter mainstream marketplaces, this change in movie distribution represents new challenges.

The Pitch

This is the film of us presenting the pitch to a audience.

Production Company

We chose to create our production company as  "Red Bus Productions" as it can be instantly recognised and linked with the audience and the genre being a national icon. This then gives the audience an idea where the film is being set in England urban surroundings. This simple logo will be eaiserly remembered by the audience, by using the famous red bus.

Storyboard: Utopia

This is the first storyboard that we had put together for Utopia. We inclisipight that this will more then likely change in the near future.
