Filming Changes

Throughout our production process we have made various change to Utopia and the narrative view that we portrayed. These are what we had to change:

THIS IS ENGLAND HOUSE -
The house that is featured in Shane Meadows' This Is England film is not to far away from our college. We then decided to use this as an establishing shot for one of the characters out film, we hoped that this would embody the same conventions of This is England. However after feedback of our film we decided that to add this house was no longer needed and would only just break up the trailer.

CHANGING THE NARRATIVES
Originally we were going to show the narrative of two different characters in our film similar to
Kidulthood and then see them interact with one another to fight their problems.. We were told
this was to hard to follow and didn't work as a teaser trailer. Whilst the film is still about those
two characters we only used one narrative in the trailer.

NO DOG
Owen has a pet Rottweiler that we used in the film. We only had one quick shot of him that we
would use. Rottweilers are associated with crime and urban life. However the shot didn't fit and
only really break up the trailer so we decided not to use it.

GREEN SCREEN
We had filmed a green screen scene that we would later going to use in our film. It was a news
broadcast showing how current and relevant cyber bullying is in modern life. It was deemed by
our piers as not necessary for the trailer and so, we didn't use it as it would only hind the trailer
not help it.

GUN FINAL SCENE
The final shot in our film is a gun cocking. The was because of audience feedback as in the original trailer draft we have the character would have a hand full of pill and then the second character would then place his hand on his shoulder and say "Its alright mate". However this sort of gave the film away so the idea of the gun was added to have suspense to the trailer and keep the audience intreged and interest.

Magazine Editing - Screenshots

When we where filming i decided to take this picture for the magazine as the Arthur and Owen where in character as the where wearing the same clothes as seen in the trailer. Also the backdrop of the brick wall with graffiti, hints to the audience the genre of the film being a social realist film.

Step 1 - I cropped the photo down to size to fit the A4 front cover. Then blurred the background to reinforce the focus point of the faces of the characters.

Step 2 - I added the title and the website and placed them behind the the main picture so it pops out and catch the eye of the views.

Step 3 - Then added "Utopia" the title and it capture underneath and the banner.

Step 4 - I filled in the banner with text and pictures of Owen from the trailer.

Step 5 - Filled in the magazine with more text showing what is the magazine has inside.

Step 6 - To finish off i added a competition to win free tickets and telling we having a free poster inside.
Step 7 - Some final edits to the text and the magazine was complete.
